finding places

In gta iv do u have to find all the places urself eg clothes shops,car shops and things like that or will you get taken to them during missions. Because at the moment there is only one clothes store i can go tofinding places
there should be a city map in the box.finding places
youll find some during missions and some you have to find yourself.

I'm pretty sure all the places are listed in the city map that comes with the game.
