Can't get on xbox live on my dashboard, ...

It's really wierd, I checked the connection and it said connected, I've got full bars of signal, I can play multiplayer online and I can even download game content by using the 'downloadable content' option on gears of war.
I can do all that but when I go to any of the 1st 3 blades on the dashboard and select 'log on to xbox live' the side pane comes up processes it, goes away but I am left with the little 'dots orbiting the console' thing which never stops.
This is annoying as I have just got live (via wireless adapter if that matters) and now I cannot access marketplace or my online profile.

Has anyone had this? How can I fix it?

ThanksCan't get on xbox live on my dashboard, ...
i had exactly the same problem after i got my third 360 back from repairs. I fixed is somehow.. wait i will remember how shortly and edit my post..*EDIT* Oh yeah, i had a PC-360 network and had chosen 360 to play videos from a folder on my PC while network sharing on my PC was turned off.. If that is indeed your problem then go into the blue blade and change the default folders for videos, pics and songs to your 360 hard drive. Can't get on xbox live on my dashboard, ...
Thanks but I haven't done any file sharing like that.
I read that a lot of people got this problem around xmas, if you did, did it resolve itself or did you have to call ms or do anything?

maybe your xbox is too far from your router caining the speed off. the wireless adapters aint the best for range. i had to move my dads router when setting up for my little bro's
I'm having the same issues w/my console. It has been working fine for a year and then two weeks ago, I wasn't able to log in to Xbox Live from the Dashboard. I can access Xbox Live and the Marketplace once I'm inside a game like Halo 3 or GH3, but not from the Dashboard.I spent two hours on the phone with customer service and we ran through the whole ''to do'' list. Their final solution was to have me take my console to a friend's house who has a cable/dsl internet service. Since I have wireless internet, they said that it wasn't compatable with Xbox Live. It leaves me scratching my head because it has worked fine until two weeks ago.
I had the same problem for a while, but that was when the internet on this side of the Mediterranean was distrupted by some ship in Egypt...It fixed itself in a week....
